Paradise Valley

Staff 2024 PV

IntelliSchool’s Paradise Valley campus is the original IntelliSchool charter. It opened in 1995 and was one of the first charter schools in the state of Arizona. The school has re-located since it originally opened. Today, it is located at Bell Road and 16th Street and is accessible from both I-17 and Highway 51.

Jason Swingler has been the principal of our Paradise Valley campus since 2016. Principal Swingler began teaching at IntelliSchool in 2005. He is a highly qualified math, English and social studies teacher. Principal Swingler believes all students can be successful if they have access to a high quality and an individualized education program.

This campus’s culture is student-centered. Students receive one on one attention as they work though their classes on our PLP integrated platform. They also have access to Direct Instruction classes which challenge them to learn in a small group environment.

The Paradise Valley campus is supported by three teachers, a full-time counselor, and a secretary.

Talia McDermott has been the English teacher for the Paradise Valley Campus since 2018. She has led a rededication to the fundamental principles of learning and pedagogy. Talia is committed to helping her community, and she proves this everyday by consistently showing up for her students.

Here at PV we know the importance of mathematics in everyday life. Our math teacher, Joshua Orem, takes this very seriously while trying to make the concepts relatable and enjoyable. From pre-algebra to personal finance there is something for everyone to learn and apply to their life! Joshua has also been at the PV campus since 2018.

Our resource teacher is Gary Salas. Gary has more than thirty-five years teaching experience, and he brings with him a laser like focus on student achievement. His emphasis is building positive relationships with his students that will help lead them down the road of success.

PV’s new counselor this year is Adrianna Tosi. She brings with her the latest motivational techniques to help not only guide our students through their most difficult days, but also help them as they proceed to graduation and beyond. Adrianna will also be directing our Student Council activities as well as field trips.

Val Morales has been the secretary for our PV campus since 2018. She has proven through the years to be a determined advocate for students who has the ability to challenge students to meet their goals. Val’s natural patience and positivity serves her well in her front line position that requires her to constantly deal with the public. We all appreciate her ability to juggle all of her duties in such a calm manner.

The Paradise Valley campus has three daily school sessions. The morning session is from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., the afternoon session is from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., and the evening session is from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Students are asked to attend one session per day for a total of twenty school hours a week. At least two staff members are available per session, but oftentimes there are three or more.

During school sessions, snacks and drinks are available to students for purchase.
